Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper reported that the management of Saudi club Al-Fateh has decided to terminate its contractual relationship with team coach Khalid Al-Atwi by mutual consent between both parties.
This comes in light of the negative results recorded by the team in the Saudi League competitions.
The report clarified that the club's management moved quickly to search for a suitable replacement, with Moroccan coach Jamal Sellami becoming the closest candidate to take over the technical leadership of the team during the upcoming phase.
The Jordanian Football Association had previously dismissed Sellami after the Chivalry team exited the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.
This decision comes amid difficult circumstances faced by the team in the Saudi League standings table.
Al-Fateh occupies 15th place in the league with only 3 points.
These were collected from 3 draws, while suffering defeat in 4 other matches since the start of the season.
The Moroccan coach led the Jordan national team at the 2026 World Cup in America, which they exited from the group stage.
The Jordan national team lost all three of their World Cup matches against Argentina, Algeria, and Austria.
Previously, Jamal Sellami led the Jordan national team to the final of the 2025 Arab Cup in Qatar, before losing to Morocco.
