Mohamed Salah, the star of Trabzonspor, spoke about the reasons that led him to join the Turkish club, explaining that he was greatly amazed upon seeing the fans' reception for him after his arrival at Istanbul Airport.
Mohamed Salah arrived in Trabzon after a legendary nine-season career with Liverpool, during which the 34-year-old achieved everything possible.
Trabzon signed Mohamed Salah to a two-year contract until the end of the 2028 season, and the Egyptian international donned the number "10" jersey with his new team.
In an interview with Trabzon's official website, Mohamed Salah explained the reason behind the distinctiveness of his football career.
Responding in statements quoted by "sporx": "It is difficult to cite a clear reason for the distinctiveness of my career, but I believe I realized from a young age that I always need motivation to succeed. Therefore, I constantly try to find new motivation to move forward, and this is why I joined Trabzon."
He added: "I have accomplished many things in my career, but I am still always looking to take on a new challenge, which is why I signed with Trabzon. I hope we achieve something special in European competitions and in the Turkish League as well."
Regarding his feelings when he first learned of Trabzon's interest in signing him, Mohamed Salah explained: "I started searching for the most beautiful places in the city of Trabzon (laughs). I played for clubs like Liverpool and Fiorentina, whose fans are very passionate about football. Playing in a city where people care deeply about football is different from playing in the capital or anywhere else."

He continued: "I felt very excited as soon as I learned of Trabzon's interest in signing me, and immediately upon my arrival here, I began searching for the best places and restaurants. This was the first thing I did when I learned that Trabzon wanted to sign me."
Regarding his conversation with Trabzon president Ertuğrul Doğan, Mohamed Salah added: "His ambition to improve and develop the club is what convinced me to come here. When I joined from Liverpool, people loved me greatly there, showed me much respect, and I played with them for nine years."
He continued: "I wanted to see how much the people in Trabzon love me. After the president's words to me, what I saw upon my arrival at the airport and my presentation at the stadium was truly incredible. However, for me, my main desire is to achieve something great with this team, so I felt I made the right decision by moving to Trabzon."
Regarding his reaction to the fans' reception, he elaborated: "I admit that I am not an emotional person at all, but what I saw at the airport completed something that was missing inside me. I was excited to see this love from the fans, and I did not expect it."
Mohamed Salah revealed that his Liverpool teammates contacted him after his move to Trabzon, continuing in statements quoted by "ajansspor": "After the grand reception I received, my former Liverpool teammates contacted me and told me they had never seen anything like this before."
When asked about which players he still keeps in touch with from Liverpool, Mohamed Salah answered: "I am still in touch with Szoboszlai."
He went on to say: "I don't think many players receive such a welcome even before starting their journey with the club, which is why I felt very happy."
Mohamed Salah delivered a message to Trabzon fans, concluding: "We need your support throughout this season. It is true that we will face difficult moments, but I promise you that every member of the team will do their utmost to achieve success. We hope that, thanks to your support, we will achieve great successes in the Conference League and win the league title."
