Marwan Attia, the midfielder of Al-Ahly Club and the Egyptian national team, made important statements about the Pharaohs' participation in the 2026 World Cup and the most prominent moments and lessons learned from participating in the tournament.
Marwan Attia said during statements via the channel "MBC Egypt 2": "Our first and last goal was to honor our country and write an unforgettable page in the World Cup".
He added: "Our feeling is indescribable with the support of the Egyptian fans for us throughout the World Cup matches, especially from the popular circles".
He continued: "We succeeded in restoring the passion and love from the public for the Egyptian national team, just as it was happening during the golden generation periods between 2006 and 2010".
He went on: "Mohamed Hany delivered a wonderful performance in the World Cup, and he usually shines in major matches".
He completed: "Captain Hossam Hassan asked me to support Mohamed Hany on the right side, and we succeeded in forming a very strong flank".
He continued: "Karim Hafez seized the opportunity to participate in the World Cup and God honored him after an absence of 9 years from being with the national team".
He completed: "I am not affected by criticisms, but I focus on turning them into energy for greater improvement and development, and I always consider God in my work".
He clarified: "Sometimes I do not deliver the required level, perhaps due to physical fatigue, and therefore I focus on reviewing my mistakes to correct them as much as possible".
Marwan Attia revealed: "The best periods of my brilliance with the national team in the World Cup came during the second half against New Zealand, in addition to my matches against Australia and Argentina".
He added: "The most difficult times we went through in the World Cup were during the last 10 minutes of the match against Argentina, due to the rapid events that took place and we could not contain our sadness".
Regarding President Sisi's honoring of the national team, he said: "A great and indescribable honor, after we succeeded in confirming our impact on the level of Egyptian sports, and proving that our efforts were beneficial".
He affirmed: "We all delivered a good performance and showed a strong level and were up to the responsibility in a tournament in which high-level competitors participate".
He concluded his statements by saying: "God willing, we will prepare strongly for participation in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations edition, with great ambition to achieve the title".
