The French newspaper "Foot Mercato" revealed that English club Liverpool has entered negotiations to sign Senegalese winger Ismaïla Sarr of Crystal Palace during the ongoing summer transfer window.

The newspaper clarified that Liverpool is on the verge of finalizing the deal after initiating talks with Crystal Palace to acquire the 28-year-old player, given Sarr's desire to leave the English club.

It indicated that Sarr is currently in a dispute with Crystal Palace's management to secure permission for his departure, having missed the team's trip to face Everton in a move aimed at pressuring his club's administration into approving his transfer.

"Foot Mercato" added that the Senegalese player is enthusiastic about joining Liverpool, despite strong competition from Galatasaray and Saudi club Al-Hilal, both of which have expressed interest in securing his services.

Crystal Palace insists on receiving at least €60 million to approve Sarr's departure. The player delivered an exceptional season with the team, scoring 28 goals across all competitions last season, thereby equalling the club's record for most goals scored by a single player in one Premier League era season.

Sarr also shone with the Senegal national team during the 2026 World Cup, scoring four goals to become the tournament's top African scorer.
