Robert Lewandowski, star of Chicago Fire, spoke about his former club Barcelona and the Blaugrana's chances of winning the Champions League this season.
Lewandowski left Barcelona at the end of last season after the veteran striker did not renew his contract with the Blaugrana, departing to join Chicago Fire.
In an interview with the newspaper "As," Lewandowski believes that Barcelona is capable of winning the Champions League this season, explaining that the Spanish players' World Cup victory this year will give the Catalan team a forward push.
Regarding Barcelona's start to the season, Lewandowski said: "I haven't watched many of Barcelona's matches, but I know their current situation; they need some time. I hope Barcelona continues to play well; they have extremely talented players."

Addressing the issue of signing a striker and Barcelona's acquisition of Gabriel Jesus following the failure to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid, he added: "We managed to score 65 goals last season; this club knows very well how to operate until the end."
Regarding the Champions League, Lewandowski explained: "Barcelona's current phase is different from before; they possess many distinguished players alongside new signings. Winning the Champions League is a dream for Barcelona, but at this stage, they have players who were young two or three years ago and have now gained significant experience. There are currently eight players on the team who have won the World Cup, which is a remarkable achievement for them and for the Spanish national team as well. Ultimately, I hope Barcelona strives to win the Champions League and celebrates lifting the trophy."
He added: "Barcelona is among the top favorites to win the Champions League, along with two or three other teams. Performance at the start of the season isn't crucial by European competition standards; what matters is maintaining level throughout the season. I hope we ultimately talk about Barcelona and the number of titles they have won this season."
Lewandowski warned about Real Madrid and their new era under Jose Mourinho, continuing: "Real Madrid has become a better team thanks to their new signings and with Jose Mourinho present. I feel that after two years of failing to win any title, their mentality has improved, and they could be very strong this season, but I will always remain with Barcelona."
Regarding playing in the American league and being in Chicago, he continued: "There are many Poles in the United States; I see many of them at every match, and for me, this is something special. I feel good there; initially, you need some time to adapt not only to the city but also to the country."
He added: "My move from Europe to play in America is truly a big step, unlike moving from Germany to Spain. It was difficult at first, but my family and I are very happy with the city, the team, and my teammates. Now, as a team, we have enough time to prepare and work better, as we played many consecutive matches without a preparation period. I need time to train; I need to pause slightly, and I hope to be in my best form in the coming weeks."
