Dio Kasozi, the president of Ugandan club Kitara, confirmed that his team has signed new players capable of achieving miracles, during his comments about facing Al Ahly in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Uganda's Kitara will face Al Ahly on the evening of October 17 at Hoima Stadium, for the first leg of the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup tournament.
Strong signings
Kasozi said in statements reported by Daily Sports newspaper: "The contracts concluded by the club have provided us with the necessary players to compete against Al Ahly, despite the Egyptian team's prestigious history in continental competitions."
He added: "When signing these players, we took such continental tasks into consideration, and we supported them to achieve a significant result in Hoima when facing Al Ahly."
He continued: "We have signed good players capable of achieving miracles... Believe me, we are ready to win at home and draw away, then move on to the group stage."
In-depth analyses
Kasozi's confidence was also boosted by Uganda's national team victory over Libya by one goal to nil, at Hoima Stadium last Tuesday, as part of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, a result he believes demonstrates the potential of Ugandan football when teams receive strong fan support.
He completed: "We conducted in-depth analyses of our opponents, and we are preparing for the various challenges that may accompany playing in Egypt. I assure you that our team will not be intimidated by the event or its opponents."
He added: "We are also aware of the non-football-related matters practiced by these Arab countries, but I assure you that we have the solution and nothing will intimidate us."
Support from Hoima fans
At the conclusion of his remarks, Dio Kasozi urged Kitara's fans, football lovers, and the Ugandan media to rally around his team as they attempt to write another chapter in football history.
It is worth noting that the return match between Al Ahly and Uganda's Kitara will be held at Cairo Stadium on October 25, where the winner on aggregate will qualify for the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
