Dio Kasozi, president of the Ugandan club Kitara, announced the adoption of a new system for selling tickets to the team's match against Al Ahly in the Confederation Cup, as part of Uganda's preparations to host the upcoming edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Kitara Club launched the sale of tickets for the match against Al Ahly during a press conference held this evening, Thursday, with the price of a regular ticket set at $5.5 and VIP tickets priced at $25.
Al Ahly will face the Ugandan team Kitara on the evening of October 17 at Hoima Stadium, in the first leg of the second preliminary round of the African Confederation Cup.
Kitara officials clarified that no paper tickets will be available for the Al Ahly match, as all tickets must be purchased online, with support points provided in Hoima City, which is hosting the fixture.
Dio Kasozi stated during the press conference: "We are moving towards this system because we know that paper tickets will not be sold at the Africa Cup of Nations. Therefore, even for us, we want to ensure that fans obtain their tickets electronically rather than via paper."
He added: "There is also an advantage for the fans, as there are offices in all branches of one company that can assist you in obtaining tickets online."
He continued: "We expect this match to witness a larger attendance than our two matches against Mogadishu; one of those matches saw 15,000 spectators, so we anticipate an even greater number of fans attending this specific match."
He further noted: "For this reason, you will notice that we have slightly increased the price of VIP tickets, given that box seats are limited in the stadium, and we expect fans from various categories to attend."
He went on to say: "Box seat supporters will receive dedicated parking stickers, as we faced some issues regarding parking stickers in previous matches."
Dio Kasozi concluded his remarks by saying: "I would like to urge local fans to buy their tickets early, so that supporters from across the country do not fill the stadium while you still haven't secured your tickets."
