Real Madrid is preparing to make an official offer to Manchester City to sign the Spanish midfielder Rodrigo Hernandez, the winner of the Golden Ball for the World Cup, in a deal that could reach 60 million euros, once the deal for the Ivorian winger Yan Diomande from Leipzig is completed, as part of a comprehensive plan to rebuild the Royal team under the leadership of coach Jose Mourinho.
The Spanish newspaper "Marca" said that optimism prevails in the corridors of the Royal Club regarding the completion of the deal, as signing the Manchester City player is the culmination of a wonderful project led by Mourinho since he took charge, as contracting a pivotal midfielder was indispensable for the Portuguese coach.
Mourinho had studied several alternative options, including the Argentine Enzo Fernandez and the Portuguese Mateus Fernandez, before concluding that Rodri is the ideal choice to lead the Royal team's midfield, which was confirmed by the recent World Cup tournament that highlighted the Spanish player's exceptional abilities.
Based on Mourinho's assessment, the sports director of Real Madrid initiated a detailed report to President Florentino Perez, who gave the green light to proceed with the deal, considering that Rodri possesses all the necessary qualifications to lead the new project.
Rodri, who is 30 years old, is distinguished by rare qualities that Mourinho and the sports director are looking for, including leadership, tactical discipline, the superior ability to read matches, and precise distribution of balls, which will enable the Portuguese coach to build the team around a player accustomed to bearing responsibility in major matches.
On the other hand, Manchester City has begun to accept the idea of their star's departure, especially with the approaching end of his contract in 2027, as sources indicate that the English club, which holds all respect for the player, will accept his departure if it is his personal decision, as City does not want to force any of its key players to stay against their will.
Estimates indicate that the value of the deal will range between 50 and 60 million euros, given that only one year remains on the player's contract with the English club, which makes the price reasonable for Real Madrid, which seeks to complete the deal as quickly as possible.
After strengthening the defense line, adding a new talent by signing the Portuguese Bernardo Silva, and investing in Diomande as a promising player in the long term, Rodri represents the deal capable of providing balance and guidance to the entire rebuilding process, as Real Madrid wants him to be the mastermind behind Mourinho's new era at Santiago Bernabeu.
