Italian club Inter Milan announced the signing of the veteran defender, John Stones, during the current summer transfer window, coming from English Manchester City.
The past few hours witnessed Stones successfully undergoing the medical examination, in preparation for the official signing of the contracts to join the Italian league champion, this summer.
According to what Sky Sport Italia reported, Stones, who is 32 years old, will sign a contract that extends for two seasons with Inter Milan.
Inter Milan published an official statement on its website announcing the completion of the deal, saying: "Finally, I have arrived home, welcome to the new Interista car."
It added: "On the ninth of August 2016, his career witnessed a decisive transformation with his move to Manchester City. The city changed, the color of his blue shirt changed, his goals changed, and his status changed. Stones developed under the leadership of Pep Guardiola and emerged as a smart modern defender."
It continued: "Stones is distinguished by being skilled in building attacks, capable of reading spaces and anticipating opponents' movements, strong in aerial balls inside and outside his penalty area, and has also delivered historic moments."
It went on: "Stones made history with his spectacular clearance of the ball off the goal line in the 2019 match against Liverpool, which was ultimately decisive in securing the league title."
It completed: "Over his years in Manchester, Stones became a fundamental pillar for the amazing and successful City team, capable of winning six English league titles, three FA Cup titles, and five League Cup titles."
It continued: "The veteran defender also won three English Community Shield titles, a Champions League title, a European Super Cup title, and a Club World Cup title."
It pointed out: "A journey that led him to unforgettable moments, harvesting numerous titles, a journey that made him a symbol of Manchester City after 295 official matches and 19 goals, a journey that enabled him, as he himself stated, to achieve his dreams."
It noted that: "His consistent performance, solidity, and defensive reliability also made him a fundamental pillar in the England national team, where he participated in 94 international matches, played in major tournaments, reached the European Championship final twice in 2021 and 2024, and was part of the squad that qualified for the World Cup semi-finals twice: in 2018."
It added: "After 32 years in England, John Stones is ready for a new experience, Italy, Milan, in a new environment and a new league to embark on with the vast experience he has gained throughout his football career."
It concluded: "For the first time, his shirt will not only be blue but also black, from the fields of Barnsley to the pitch of San Siro, after making history in Manchester: John Stones is a new player at Inter Milan."
