This draw falls under the new UEFA Champions League format, which includes 36 teams competing in a single league phase. Each team plays eight matches against eight different opponents, facing two clubs from each seeding pot—one at home and one away.

The top eight teams qualify directly for the Round of 16, while teams finishing between ninth and twenty-fourth enter a two-legged playoff to compete for the remaining Round of 16 spots. Teams placed from 25th to last are eliminated from the tournament without dropping into the Europa League.

The league phase kicks off between September 8 and 10, 2026, with the final round scheduled for January 27, 2027. The final match will take place in Madrid, Spain, on June 5, 2027.

The clash between Real Madrid and Arsenal stands out as one of the toughest fixtures for Los Blancos in the league phase, alongside their meeting with Inter Milan. Meanwhile, matches against PSV Eindhoven, AS Roma, RB Leipzig, Shakhtar Donetsk, LASK, and AEK Athens represent varied challenges throughout their journey toward qualifying for the knockout stages.
