The Swiss Gianni Infantino, President of the International Football Association "FIFA", was keen to talk about the Egyptian national team's journey in the 2026 World Cup, which witnessed many exceptional and sad moments at the same time.
The Egyptian national team succeeded in surpassing the group stage for the first time in its history, by drawing with Belgium and Iran, and defeating New Zealand, which is the first victory in the history of the "Pharaohs" during the World Cup.
The journey did not stop at this event, but the Egyptian team succeeded in eliminating Australia from the round of 32 on penalties, before falling to Argentina in the round of 16 with a score of (2-3), in a match that sparked controversy over the refereeing performance and accusations against the FIFA president of favoring the "Tango".

Infantino decided to direct a message to the Pharaohs, by publishing several photos of the Egyptian team via his official account on the photo-sharing site "Instagram", and commented saying: "Thank you.. The 2026 World Cup tournament will always have a special place in the history of Egyptian football.. The first appearance in the knockout stages and the first victory in the group stage".
He concluded: "Your journey was inspiring to your fans in the homeland and around the world, and the memories you created this summer will remain stuck in the minds of Egyptian football fans around the world".
