In statements carried by the newspaper "Sport," Brindisi believes that Álvarez's mental state may worsen in the coming period, stating: "What about Julián Álvarez? There are two situations that can push any player to the peak of tension and weakness: the first is the player suffering an injury, and the second relates to the transfer market, especially in its final days. Brindisi also discussed Álvarez's suffering from depression, as the player was absent from Atlético Madrid's last La Liga match against Sevilla on Saturday.
He added: "When a player is diagnosed with depression while negotiations are taking place between clubs, the situation changes completely. You must be cautious."
Brindisi confirmed that Álvarez's condition requires psychological attention and that the player needs immediate treatment, which Atlético Madrid is not providing.
He concluded: "You cannot punish a person for wanting to move to another institution. Julián Álvarez's desire is not just a whim; moving to Barcelona is a wish he has had since childhood."
