Emam Ashour, the star of the Egyptian national team, expressed his great happiness with the victory achieved by the Pharaohs over South Sudan, noting that the players faced many difficult conditions during the match.
The Egyptian national team defeated its host, South Sudan, five goals to nil, in a match played between the two teams last Tuesday evening at Juba Stadium, as part of the second round of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Emam Ashour said in comments to On Sport channel: "The match was difficult, from the high temperatures to the hard and hot pitch."
The Al Ahly midfielder added: "The players put in a very great effort throughout the 90 minutes, and we managed to achieve a big victory and a good performance worthy of the name of the Egyptian national team."
He continued: "I changed my boots three times during the match.. My feet burned, and all my toes burned. It wasn't just me who experienced this; more than one player had the same thing happen to them."
Emam Ashour concluded his statements saying: "This is football, and we must be on the pitch. We play in the name of our country, and we must sacrifice every drop of sweat for the name of our country."
The Egyptian national team is preparing to face South Africa in a friendly match on October 4th next, at Cairo Stadium, marking the end of the September and October training camps.
The Egyptian national team had started its journey in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations with a goalless draw against Angola at Cairo Stadium last Friday.
