Ibrahimovic: Garcia caused Belgium's loss

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the former Swedish national team player, criticized Belgium national team coach Rudy Garcia, after the loss they suffered in the last match against Spain in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup.

Zlatan's criticism of Garcia was due to including Lamens instead of Binders in the match, as he said in statements published by the French network rmcsport: "I hold the national team coach responsible for this defeat, it is a decision that cost Belgium the match".

He added: "Why did he replace Courtois with Senne Lamens from Manchester United, while Mike Binders remains on the bench?".

He continued: "Is the reason that Lamens plays for Manchester United and Binders for Strasbourg? This is not the right way to choose a goalkeeper for the national team. Especially when you see what will happen later".

Thibaut Courtois had left the field injured in the 71st minute, after saving 4 balls and conceding one goal, but he maintained the draw with Spain before his exit.

The former Swedish player concluded his statements, saying: "Lamens is not a good goalkeeper at this level, he is overestimated, Binders is much better, and everyone sees that".
