The Egyptian national team succeeded in qualifying for the round of 16 in the 2026 World Cup, for the first time in the history of the Pharaohs.
The team also succeeded in achieving many historical records in that tournament, foremost among them achieving the first victory in the World Cup, as well as qualifying for the knockout stages for the first time.
The Egyptian national team bid farewell to the 2026 World Cup competitions, after a historic journey in which it reached the round of 16 and was eliminated by the defending champions, the Argentine national team, with a score of (3-2) after widespread refereeing controversy.
Ibrahim Hassan's statements
Ibrahim Hassan, director of the Egyptian national team, said in statements during his lunch with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi today, Saturday, on the sidelines of honoring the national team: "We are happy with President El-Sisi's presence with us on a day like this, and this is a great honor for us. Since we took on the task of coaching the team, me and Hossam, everyone knows that we wanted to reach this point in order to meet the President".
He added: "We are happy that we are presenting something to the Egyptian national team in our field, and we keep pace with the great development that the country is witnessing in all fields, so we also seek development in football, and to live up to President El-Sisi's expectations and present something great for Egyptian football".
The team director continued: "Our goal was to leave a big mark in the World Cup, and to send a message to future generations about the necessity of building on what we have achieved in the coming period, and we promise President El-Sisi more successes and excellence in the coming period".
He concluded: "I thank all the players, the technical staff, and every individual who was present in the national team's delegation at the World Cup, as well as the board of directors of the federation, which did not spare us anything until we reached this point".
