English star Harry Kane, captain and leading striker of Bayern Munich, indicated that talks have begun with the German club's officials to extend his contract with the first team beyond 2027.

Bayern Munich had previously expressed its desire to extend Harry Kane's contract, noting that his current deal expires at the end of the ongoing season, amid interest from Barcelona and several other clubs in signing him.

Harry Kane is among the top contenders to win this year's Ballon d'Or award for the world's best player, which will be presented in London, his birthplace, next October.

Harry Kane: I want to renew with Bayern Munich

Kane, who joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023 from English club Tottenham Hotspur, made these remarks after Bayern's 5-1 victory over Stuttgart in the season opener.

Harry Kane said: "The first meetings regarding negotiations for the new contract started last week; many details still need to be discussed. I hope to continue my journey with Bayern."

He continued in statements quoted by the newspaper "TalkSport": "I am 33 years old, and this may not be my final contract, but it is an important one for me to sign. They must ensure that I am happy."

He added: "Of course, they must also ensure that they are happy. There is no rush from either side. I am confident we will reach a point where both parties are satisfied."

Kane scored 36 goals in 31 Bundesliga matches last season, marking the third-highest single-season goal tally in Bundesliga history, and he won the league and cup double.

Overall, Kane netted 73 goals for Bayern Munich and his national team last season, including six goals in the 2026 World Cup, where England reached the semi-finals.
