Greek coach Georgios Donis, the Saudi Arabia national team manager, highlighted the potential and tools possessed by the Green Falcons, along with their high morale, to win the Gulf Cup 27 title.
This comes as they face the United Arab Emirates in the final match between the two teams on Tuesday evening at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium (Al-Jawhara) in Jeddah.
Donis said in statements reported by the Saudi sports newspaper Ar-Riyadh: "We have players with great potential and high morale, and the players are giving everything they have to achieve victory."
He added, "Every match is different from the others. In the previous encounter, we played against a difficult team like Qatar. It was not easy to overcome a group that relies on defense, especially since the conditions and atmosphere were very tough. We played four strong matches within 14 days."
He continued, "In the final, we will focus heavily on set pieces, and we will strive to make the best choices in both defensive and offensive aspects. We must create chances inside the penalty area to reach the goal and secure victory."
On the other hand, Mohammed Kanno, the captain of the Saudi national team, expressed their readiness to play the final against the UAE.
He said, "We are ready for this final. We realize that reaching this stage was one of our goals and ambitions, and we seek to win the cup. As players, we implement the technical staff's instructions on the field to achieve our objectives."
He added, "We must apply the coach's plan as required. The fans did not fall short in supporting us against Qatar in the last match; they were like the 12th player. We hope for their massive presence on Tuesday and for them to continue supporting us."
Kanno promised at the end of his statement, saying, "In the previous match, we reached the penalty shootouts and managed to win. As everyone knows, penalty shootouts depend on luck. In the final match, we aim to settle the result during regular time."
