Nikolopoulos Michalis, the sporting director of Levadiakos, revealed details of the negotiations with Mohamed Elneny after the deal was officially announced.
Levadiakos announced the signing of Elneny on a free transfer for one season.
Speaking to MBC Masr 2, Nikolopoulos Michalis, the sporting director of Levadiakos, said: "We started negotiating with Mohamed Elneny 10 days ago and reached an agreement. It is a great opportunity for us to sign him, as he is a big player."
He added, "Mohamed Elneny is an important player for the club's project in the upcoming phase, and he will have a prominent role with the team."
He concluded his remarks by saying, "We follow the Egyptian national team closely, and Egyptian players are generally of interest to us due to their quality and technical abilities."
Elneny had moved to Al Jazira in the summer of 2024 following the end of his contract with Arsenal.
The stint at Levadiakos is the sixth in Elneny's professional career since his start with El Mokawloon Al Arab.
Elneny previously played for El Mokawloon, Basel, Arsenal, Beşiktaş, and Al Jazira.
Levadiakos currently sits at the bottom of the Greek Super League table with one point from the five rounds played so far.
The team finished last season in fifth place with 42 points.
The team has started this season poorly, suffering defeats against PAOK, Panathinaikos, Panetolikos, and Olympiacos.
