Gavi's injury officially revealed

Barcelona breathed a sigh of relief regarding Gavi's condition after the medical examinations the player underwent this Monday morning proved reassuring, following the injury he sustained during the match against Elche in the opening round of La Liga, which had raised significant concerns due to his previous injury to his right knee.

According to what the player posted on his "Instagram" account, Gavi made a point of reassuring Barcelona fans after the fear they experienced during the match, stating: "Thank you to everyone who always supports me and stays by my side until death... I don't understand football any other way, and I'm sorry for making you suffer so much."

Following Gavi's message, official confirmation from Barcelona put an end to the worry, as the club announced in a statement that the player suffered a bruise to his right knee during the match against Elche, clarifying that the medical examinations he underwent this morning confirmed the injury was merely a bruise, with expectations that he will return to group training in a short time.

Gavi was struck while attempting to press Elche's players, falling to the ground after one of the opponents' players collided with his right leg, the same leg that suffered a serious injury in 2023, a scene that sparked concern within Barcelona.

Hansi Flick was forced to quickly substitute Gavi with Pedri, as the player was unable to complete the first half, before returning to the bench in the second half with clear signs of discomfort, awaiting the results of the medical examinations.

Gavi had started the match in his usual position in Barcelona's midfield, having worked over the past period to fully regain his physical fitness following his participation with the Spanish national team in the World Cup, where he began his training early with the aim of reaching the best possible condition before the start of the season.

Current indicators suggest that the injury will not be serious, although the blow may raise doubts about the player's availability for the match against Athletic Bilbao on Thursday, with his potential return to be determined based on the development of his condition in the coming days.
