Jeremy Doku, the Manchester City player, criticized the decisions of Rudi Garcia, the former coach of the Belgian national team, during the 2026 FIFA World Cup held last June and won by Spain in July.

The Belgian national team participated in the World Cup competitions but was eliminated in the quarter-finals. Doku was not at his best during the tournament and explained the reasons behind that.

Doku cited Belgium's group stage match against Egypt, which ended in a positive 1-1 draw, pointing to his position on the field as determined by Garcia.

In his statements with "Play Sports" channel, Doku criticized some tactical choices made by his former coach during the World Cup, saying: "When I watch the Egypt match, or even many other matches, I wasn't always in my best position."

Explaining further: "Sometimes I played as a right winger, even as a striker against Egypt. I feel these choices didn't put me in my best position. Everyone knows I excel playing as a left winger; there's no need to invent baseless things. All this bothered me slightly and didn't help me."

Doku concluded his remarks by saying: "We reached the quarter-finals, which is an achievement for the team." The Belgian national team had lost to Spain (2-1), who later crowned themselves tournament champions.
