It was expected that the Cape Verde goalkeeper would arrive in Chile on Thursday evening, but his trip was delayed for the second time.

Aníbal Mosa, president of the Chilean club Colo Colo, said in previous statements reported by Reuters: "Vozinha will become a Colo Colo player, will arrive in Chile in a few days, will undergo a medical examination and will be presented at the Monumental Stadium."

The club also published a photo announcing the imminent joining of the Cape Verde goalkeeper to its ranks.

Vozinha becomes the eighth African player to participate in Chilean local competitions historically.

Vozinha was preceded by Cameroonian Anthony Hila, Nigerian Excel Ogude, Cameroonian Luc Bessala, Cameroonian Francis Mevou, Mauritanian Doudou Touré, Nigerian Felix Abuchi and Ivorian Franck Aholi.

Vozinha shone in the World Cup wearing the Cape Verde jersey and led his country's national team to the round of 32 in the 2026 World Cup.

The 40-year-old goalkeeper will join Colo Colo at a time when his name has also been linked with joining Inter Miami.

Vozinha's last experience was with Portuguese side Chaves, which lasted two seasons.

The number of followers of the 40-year-old goalkeeper rose to approach 29 million on Instagram after starting the tournament with only 50,000 followers.

Vozinha received great support during his World Cup journey from fans and was one of the biggest beneficiaries of social media fever.

The Cape Verde national team qualified from the group stage for the first time in its history after achieving 3 draws and finishing second behind Spain, but the journey stopped in the round of 32.

Colo Colo leads the Chilean league standings with 39 points, 7 points ahead of its closest rivals after the completion of 16 rounds.
