The Saudi League refused to sign a player from the Moroccan national team during the current summer transfer period, for a strange reason.
Press reports had confirmed that the Qatari club Al-Shamal succeeded in contracting with the Moroccan Mohamed Rabie Harimat, the Royal Army midfielder, during the ongoing summer transfer period.
The Saudi newspaper "Asharq Al-Awsat" said that Harimat was close to moving to the Saudi League, specifically to Al-Ettifaq club, but a strange reason prevented the completion of the deal.
The newspaper explained that the recruitment committee of the Saudi League Association is the one that concluded the deal, after insisting on evaluating the player for only 1.5 million dollars.
Because of this evaluation, Al-Ettifaq failed to obtain the services of the 32-year-old, so he moved to the Qatari Al-Shamal for approximately 2.5 million dollars.
Many clubs had expressed their complaints about the recruitment committee's interference in evaluating players' prices, which disrupted many deals during the past period.
Harimat was one of the most prominent Moroccan national team players in the 2025 Arab Cup held in Qatar, which the "Atlas Lions" won, to the extent that he received the award for best player in the tournament.
