Hamada El-Sherbini, a member of the Football Association board, revealed the study of submitting a file to host the 2028 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, confirming that Egypt possesses the necessary qualifications and infrastructure to organize major tournaments.
El-Sherbini said in statements to the program "The Game and the Second" with Karim Ramzi on Mega FM radio: "The joy of the Egyptian people is the biggest motivation for us to work harder, and we are seriously thinking about organizing the 2028 Africa Cup of Nations in order to repay the favor to the Egyptian and Arab fans after what they presented to us during the 2026 World Cup tournament."
The Football Association is studying hosting the 2028 Africa Cup of Nations
He added: "We are strongly studying the matter, and the political leadership is keen to provide all means, and Egypt is capable of organizing the World Cup as well as the Futsal World Cup, but the file for hosting the 2028 Africa Cup of Nations comes at the top of our priorities at the present time."
The Football Association member continued: "During our sessions in the association, we were keen to discuss the possibility of organizing the 2028 Africa Cup of Nations, and we are capable of that, and we have a distinguished infrastructure that helps us host the tournament."
The Football Association talks about dual nationals
In another context, El-Sherbini spoke about Hossam Hassan's interest, the technical director of the Egyptian national team, in following up on dual-nationality players, indicating that the technical staff is placing a number of names within its considerations.
He explained: "Hossam Hassan informed me of his interest and follow-up of the professional league, and we are placing more than one name from the dual-nationality players for the possibility of including them in the next Egyptian national team camp."
He added: "Haitham Hassan used to tell me that he dreams of joining the Egyptian national team and representing it, and there will be more than one player like Haitham Hassan with the team in the coming period, and Hossam Hassan knows everything about the dual-nationality players."
Salah will be present at the 2030 World Cup
El-Sherbini concluded his statements by saying: "Mohamed Salah will be present with the Egyptian national team at the 2030 World Cup, and we have major challenges to achieve many successes for Egyptian football in the coming period."
