German Jürgen Klopp confirmed the existence of negotiations with the German Football Association regarding taking over the position of head coach of the national team, succeeding Julian Nagelsmann, who left his position following Germany's early exit from the World Cup.
Klopp said in statements to "Magenta TV": "Yes, I can confirm the existence of talks, things developed very quickly after Julian Nagelsmann's resignation, and the German association is looking for a new coach, and they are talking to me."
The German coach explained that the negotiations will not be easy, given his contract with a company, where he holds the position of Head of Global Football since leaving Liverpool in 2024.
He added: "I am under contract, so I have to talk to my employer, we have already discussed some matters, and I assume he will not stand in my way, but it requires time and intensive talks."
Klopp indicated that he is ready to take on the experience if the negotiations are completed, confirming that the German team needs radical changes after the disappointing results it has achieved recently.
At the same time, Klopp refused to blame Nagelsmann for the decline of the German team, saying: "You cannot blame Julian alone for what is happening, he is an exceptional coach, and I am confident he will prove his capabilities again during his coaching career."
Nagelsmann had announced his departure from coaching the team, expressing his sadness after the World Cup failure, confirming that the team needs a new beginning after the early exit, and apologizing to the German fans for not meeting their expectations.
Nagelsmann's departure comes after Germany's exit from the round of 32 against Paraguay, continuing a series of negative results for the team, having also exited the 2024 European Championship in the quarter-finals, continuing the 2014 World Cup champions' struggles in major tournaments.
