Real Madrid club faces a financial obstacle that may delay concluding the deal to sign Spanish player Rodri Hernandez, Manchester City midfielder, despite coach Jose Mourinho's desire to sign him during the current summer transfer window.
Mourinho, according to circulating reports, places Rodri at the top of his priorities, believing the Manchester City player has the abilities to play a pivotal role in Real Madrid's project due to his capacity to play in more than one position.
However, according to the Spanish transfer-specialist site "Fichajes", the main obstacle lies in the financial terms of the deal, with Manchester City demanding around 75 million euros to release Rodri, while Real Madrid seeks to reduce the value to 60 million euros.
Rodri holds a contract with Manchester City running until June 2027, leaving one season, which could give Real Madrid leverage in negotiations since the player can negotiate a free transfer with any club starting next January.
Several previous reports indicated that Rodri, captain of the Spanish national team, seeks to return to his country, so the 30-year-old player welcomes the idea of playing for Real Madrid.
