Yahia El-Deraa, a player for Hungary's Veszprém, expressed his great happiness at winning the IHF Super Globe club handball championship with his team.
The Hungarian team Veszprém, which has four Egyptian players in its squad, won the IHF Super Globe club handball championship held in Egypt, after defeating Spain's Barcelona 42-33 in the final.
In comments to On Sport channel, Yahia El-Deraa said: "This tournament has a different taste. I was playing in my country and among my fans, and we enjoyed huge support from the Egyptian crowd, given the presence of four players on the team."
He added: "The players in the team were asking us about fan attendance, but I told them that the fans would turn up in large numbers. Fortunately, the Al Ahly vs Zamalek match took place before ours, in addition to the presence of five Egyptian players across our team and Barcelona."
Regarding Egypt's participation in the World Championship in Germany in a few months' time, he said: "It is a big dream, and we are carrying the ambition of winning a medal there. We have been working towards this for three or four years... The players have become key pillars in major clubs... God willing, success will be on our side this time."
He continued: "We now have the tools and knowledge that enable us to achieve what the major European teams do... We are currently on the right path, and we are expected to win medals at the World Cup and the Olympics."
El-Deraa concluded his remarks by saying: "We have now gotten rid of the inferiority complex against foreigners. We don't just win through manliness; we give opponents lessons in handball, and we possess more passion and enthusiasm than our rivals."
