Germany coach Jurgen Klopp has refused to dwell on the possibility of Liverpool being awarded retroactive Premier League titles should Manchester City face sanctions for the charges they have been found guilty of.
The Premier League announced that Manchester City is guilty of all charges related to serious breaches of the league's financial rules over nine seasons, and most charges related to their lack of cooperation with the league's investigation between 2009 and 2018 (see details).
Speaking at the press conference ahead of the match against Serbia regarding the possibility of winning a new title, Klopp said: "I am far from preparing to celebrate a title or anything of the sort."
He continued, "I am completely satisfied with what I achieved with Liverpool."
He added, "We fought hard on the pitch; I cannot say more about this matter because I do not know the details."
He revealed, "I can only wait and see what happens. I have great respect for Pep Guardiola and Manchester City's style of play. They played wonderful football and were a top-class rival for us."
He concluded, "If any sanctions are imposed, it is none of my business. I will wait and see what happens."
Following the confirmation of the charges, the club has the right to appeal the independent commission's findings, with a deadline of Friday, October 2, to exercise this right. The Premier League Board intends to complete the entire process as quickly as possible.
The German national team is preparing to face Serbia tomorrow, Thursday, in the third round of Group B matches in the UEFA Nations League.
Germany drew 1-1 with the Netherlands in the first round and suffered a 1-0 defeat against Greece in the second round.
