Jallah Al-Sulaimi, Secretary General of the Arab Football Union, confirmed that negotiations are underway with Egyptian football officials to organize the Arab Clubs Championship in the upcoming period.

External press reports had revealed in recent hours the possibility of resuming the organization of the Arab Clubs Football Championship next summer, featuring Saudi club Al-Nasr, without disclosing further details.

These reports came following the meeting of the Arab Football Union’s board of directors held in Saudi Arabia on Thursday evening, which was attended by Hany Abo Rida, president of the Egyptian Football Association.

Al-Sulaimi said in statements to the UAE-based Asharq Network: "Why is the meeting being held now? The meeting schedule was determined beforehand, according to the calendar of board meetings; it is a regular meeting."

He added: "This meeting was an opportunity to finalize certain specific arrangements, which were important to present to the board members and obtain their approval, and this has been done."

He continued: "The most prominent file was the formation of the auxiliary committees of the Arab Union, consisting of members from national federations based on those federations' nominations, and they have been ratified."

He completed: "During the meeting, the calendar and dates for the upcoming tournaments under the Arab Football Union were reviewed, and they will be published on the union's website within two days."

Regarding Egypt hosting the Arab Clubs Championship in the summer of 2027, he said: "Firstly, it has been decided that Egypt will host the Arab Beach Soccer Championship next November."

He went on: "As for the Arab Clubs Championship, we are in discussions with our brothers in Egypt, and Hany Abo Rida, the First Vice President of the Arab Union. We have aspects related to schedules that suit the clubs."

He added: "We always face challenges in determining schedules that align with the Arab leagues, which span the continents of Asia and Africa."

Al-Sulaimi concluded his statements saying: "Therefore, we strive to find suitable timings."
