The Egyptian national team announced the return of left-back Ahmed Fathy from the injury he sustained during the match against South Sudan.
Egypt defeated its host, South Sudan, by five goals to nil in the match played between the two teams this evening, Tuesday, at Juba Stadium, as part of the second round of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ahmed Fathy complained of a thigh muscle injury just minutes after the start of the second half, which necessitated his substitution in the 53rd minute for Karim Hafez.
The Egyptian national team said in a statement sent to journalists: "Ahmed Fathy participated in group training after suffering a thigh bruise; his availability to play will be determined according to the technical staff's decision."
Earlier, Egypt's team doctor clarified that Ahmed Fathy is suffering from a thigh muscle bruise and will undergo further medical examinations in the coming hours to determine the nature of the injury more precisely.
Egypt had drawn with Angola in the first round of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Egypt is placed in Group Two of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers alongside Angola, South Sudan, and Malawi.
