Date of the draw for the "Super Globe 2026" handball tournament

The International Handball Federation announced the date for the draw of the 2026 Super Globe tournament, with the participation of Al Ahly Club and Zamalek Club.

The draw ceremony for the nineteenth edition of the IHF Men's Club World Championship "Super Globe 2026", which Egypt will host for the third consecutive year, will be held on July 22 at the headquarters of the International Handball Federation in the Swiss city of Basel.

The tournament will be held from September 24 to October 1, 2026, in the New Administrative Capital, with the participation of 10 clubs for the first time, after increasing the number of participating teams compared to the previous two editions.

The new tournament system will see 6 clubs qualify directly to the group stage, while 4 clubs will compete in the preliminary qualifiers, with the two winners advancing to the group stage, while the two losers will compete for ninth and tenth place.

Al Ahly, representing the host country, is among the teams that have qualified directly to the group stage, while Zamalek will begin its campaign from the preliminary round as one of the two teams that received the special "wild card" entries.

The 2026 Club World Cup includes representatives from all continents: Al Ahly (Egypt), Barcelona (Spain), Füchse Berlin (Germany), Forum Derb Sultan (Morocco), Burjan (Kuwait), EC Pinheiros (Brazil), Los Angeles Handball Club (United States), Sydney Uni (Australia), in addition to Zamalek and Hungarian Veszprém, who received the two wild cards.

Preliminary qualifiers pots:

Pot 1: Los Angeles Handball Club (United States), Sydney Uni (Australia).

Pot 2: Zamalek (Egypt), Veszprém (Hungary).

Two matches will be drawn between the teams in each pot, with the winners advancing to the group stage.

As for the teams that qualified directly to the group stage, their distribution is as follows:

Pot 1: Spanish Barcelona (title holders), German Füchse Berlin.

Pot 2: Al Ahly (Egypt), Moroccan Forum Derb Sultan.

Pot 3: Kuwaiti Burjan, Brazilian EC Pinheiros.

Pot 4: The two winners from the preliminary round.

The group stage draw will be conducted through a free draw, without any prior restrictions on the distribution of teams.
