Speculation continues about the future of Egyptian professional Haitham Hassan, Real Oviedo player, amid links with more than one club during the current 2026 summer transfer window.
Haitham Hassan has caught the attention of several clubs thanks to his strong performances with Egypt at the World Cup, where he helped secure historic qualification to the round of 16.
Haitham Hassan has been linked with a possible departure from Real Oviedo that summer to join another club, especially given interest from Celtic and Marseille.
The Marseille-focused network "footballclubdemarseille" reported, citing French newspaper L'Équipe, that a crisis is hindering Haitham Hassan's move to the French club.
It explained that Marseille faces issues with new signings due to the salary cap, with any potential new player informed they cannot earn more than €100,000 per month because of the club's financial restrictions.
It added that Marseille has already contacted Haitham Hassan and other players to bolster the squad, but the new salary terms make any potential deal difficult.
It noted that Marseille may agree to exceed the mentioned limit for only two or three players as an exception, though they would still receive just €150,000 per month.
Accordingly, Marseille must currently prioritize players who fit its financial situation, such as free agents, those loaned out on low wages, as well as promising young players or low-cost deals.
