The British newspaper The Sun revealed that Chelsea reached an agreement with Brighton this morning to sign English striker Danny Welbeck during the current summer transfer window.
According to the report, the 35-year-old Welbeck will sign a two-year contract with the Blues after a final agreement was reached between the two clubs.
The newspaper added that the player is expected to travel with Chelsea's delegation to Australia and Asia to join the team's training camp in preparation for the new season under head coach Xabi Alonso.
Welbeck recorded his best-ever tally in the Premier League last season, scoring 13 goals.
Welbeck joined Brighton at the start of the 2020 season from Watford, where the 35-year-old made 201 appearances, scoring 51 goals and providing 18 assists.
