Casemiro, the midfielder of American star Inter Miami, confirmed that he had been dreaming for years of playing alongside Argentine Lionel Messi, noting that joining the team was his first choice if he decided to experience the American league.
Casemiro said in remarks reported by the Spanish newspaper Cadena Ser that he had lived for many long years facing Messi, whether during his time with Real Madrid or with the Brazil national team, but he had always wished to play alongside him on the same team.
He added: "Every player dreams of playing alongside one of the greatest players in the history of football. For me, I am living a real dream, and I look forward to enjoying this experience and helping Messi continue to collect titles."
The 34-year-old midfielder described the Argentine star as one of the greatest football players, confirming that his presence in the team represents a great incentive for all the players.
The Brazilian explained that he was fully convinced that if he ever played in the American league, it would be in an Inter Miami jersey, noting that he consulted a number of players before moving to the United States, including his compatriot Kaká, who previously represented Orlando City for three seasons.
Casemiro had joined the ranks of Inter Miami last week in a free transfer deal after his contract with Manchester United expired, and he made his first start in the 1-0 win over Montreal last Saturday.
