Neymar said in statements to journalists: "I think my career with the Brazilian national team has ended. I have written a page of history with it, and I am very happy about that."
He added, "I have given the team all my heart and all my life, and I was always fighting for the yellow jersey, but I think I no longer want to continue."
Neymar participated with the Brazilian national team in the 2026 World Cup.
Neymar scored a goal from a penalty kick in his country's 2-1 loss to Norway in the round of 16.
Neymar played 130 international matches, scored 80 goals, and made 59 assists in all competitions.
Neymar currently plays for the Brazilian club Santos.
