Davide Ancelotti, the Lille coach, believes that Toni Kroos cannot be replaced by any other player.
Davide is the son of Carlo Ancelotti, the former Real Madrid manager, and worked as his assistant at the club.
Davide told AS newspaper: "Life is not easy in Ligue 1. Due to issues with television rights, the league is not widely watched, but it contains many talented players, and football there is very physical."
He continued, "I like my team to play quickly and directly, rather than just focusing on defending. I believe that in decisive moments, dangerous situations, and scoring goals, all of this requires speed."
He added, "My role model in coaching? My father, of course, first and foremost. I also admire Unai Emery for his organization. I like how his team defends and how he prepares for matches. He plays offensively, but I appreciate his defensive approach. I also like Arteta's defensive organization, and I admire Luis Enrique's work."
He emphasized, "Real Madrid? I don't want my comments about Real Madrid to be seen as criticism. But when Modrić and Kroos were on the pitch, the ball would reach any player running into space. I'm not saying the current players lack the ability to do so, but I am saying that when you play direct football, you need someone who knows how to deliver the ball. Direct football doesn't mean having eight players who can run; it also means having someone who can activate them."
He added, "Replacing Kroos? You lose something you will never get back. He is the best player in the world in his position. You can't say 'I need another Kroos,' because there is no other version of him."
Davide has been managing Lille since the beginning of the current season.
