English club Brighton & Hove Albion has officially announced the signing of Algerian star Juan Hajjam during the current summer transfer window, arriving from Swiss side Young Boys.
Brighton Club stated on its official website: "We are delighted to confirm the signing of Juan Hajjam from Young Boys, champions of the Swiss Super League, on a contract extending until June 2031, subject to completion of necessary regulatory procedures."
It added: "The 23-year-old left-back will join the club after establishing himself as a key player in Switzerland, having participated in 98 domestic and Europa League matches with Young Boys."
For his part, sporting director Mike Keefe said following the completion of the deal: "We believe Juan will be a valuable addition to the squad and will strengthen our already strong defensive options."
He continued: "He is a modern left-back known for his speed, attacking effectiveness, and technical skills that perfectly suit our playing style. He has proven his versatility as a multi-position player in Switzerland, and we look forward to working with him."
Notably, Juan Hajjam began his professional career with Paris FC in 2020. After moving to Nantes in 2023 and making his debut in the French league, he joined Young Boys in 2024.
Following his move to the Swiss club, the Algerian star quickly integrated into the team, participating in both domestic and European competitions. He also represented France's youth national teams at the U-17 and U-19 levels.
Due to his eligibility to play for Algeria through his parents, Hajjam switched his international allegiance in 2023 and has since earned 21 caps with the "Desert Warriors" national team.
During this summer's 2026 World Cup, the player featured for Algeria in group stage matches against Jordan and Austria, as well as in the Round of 32 match against Switzerland.
