The Egyptian youth basketball team achieved victory over its Rwandan counterpart with a score of 80-71, in the match that brought them together on Sunday evening, within the competitions of the fifth region qualifiers qualifying for the AfroBasket championships under 18 years old, held during the period from July 22 to 29 at Hall No. 2 at Cairo International Stadium.
The Egyptian team continued its strong performances in the qualifiers, after achieving its second consecutive victory, following its win in the first round against the Tanzanian team with a score of 126-32.
The results of the periods of today's match against Rwanda were as follows:
- First period: Egypt leads 26-18.
- Second period: Egypt leads 41-39.
- Third period: Egypt leads 62-50.

- Fourth period: Egypt wins 80-71.
Participating in the youth championship are the teams of Egypt "the host country", Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.
It is worth noting that the Egyptian Basketball Federation assigned the task of managing the championship to Tarek El-Saeed, Vice President of the Federation.
The first-place finisher in the qualifiers qualifies for the finals of the AfroBasket Championship under 18 years old, scheduled to be held next August in the Ivorian capital Abidjan.
