External press reports have revealed that Spanish club FC Barcelona has begun moving to renew its contract with team player Hamza Abdelkarim.
Start of extension attempts
Juli Claramont, a journalist for the Spanish network Xigants, which is managed by Gerard Romero and specializes in Barcelona affairs, clarified that the club is working on renewing Hamza Abdelkarim's contract.
Claramont confirmed in his segment with Romero that the FC Barcelona management is pleased with the performance of the Egyptian striker, which has prompted them to begin moving and preparing all the paperwork to improve and extend his contract.
Increase in the release clause
The Spanish journalist pointed out that one of the current concerns for the Barcelona management is that the release clause in Abdelkarim's contract stands at 15 million euros, which could allow clubs to activate that clause easily.
He added that the most important goal for Barcelona in this matter is to raise the release clause in Hamza Abdelkarim's contract to 150 million euros, a fantastical financial figure.
Promotion to the first team
He continued: "Conversations are also being held with people close to the player to determine whether he will be registered on the first team's roster or not, or whether he will remain registered with the reserve team."
Juli Claramont concluded his statements by saying: "There are some minor details that still need to be resolved, but Barcelona's intention is to renew Hamza Abdelkarim's contract so that breaking his release clause is not within reach for an easily payable amount."
Abdelkarim, who is 18 years old, transferred to Barcelona in the winter of last season from Al Ahly, before the purchase clause was activated during the current summer.
It is worth noting that Hansi Flick, Barcelona's head coach, had decided to promote Hamza Abdelkarim to the first team during the pre-season preparation for the new season, where the Egyptian national team striker participated in all of Barcelona's friendly matches and scored 4 goals.
