Press reports indicated that the Brazilian star João Pedro, the English Chelsea striker, is preparing to receive a new contract after his remarkable brilliance during the past season.
The 24-year-old Brazilian striker joined Chelsea coming from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer for more than 50 million pounds sterling and signed a seven-year contract (until 2032).
Chelsea rewards João Pedro with a new contract
According to what was mentioned by the newspaper "The Athletic", it is now expected that the Brazilian international player will receive an extension to his contract with the Blues in order to secure his continuity after several major clubs expressed interest in his services.
Barcelona had expressed interest in signing Chelsea's striker, along with other European clubs, but the London club closed the door to this move.
João Pedro will be among a group of players that Chelsea wants to grant new contracts to in the coming weeks.
João Pedro scored 23 goals and provided 9 assists in 53 matches during his first season with Chelsea, becoming the team's main striker.
João Pedro described the past season as "one of the best seasons" in his football career, adding: "I am very happy, I think it was one of the best seasons in my life".
The Brazilian international continued: "I think the expectations were high from me, so I always try to maintain my focus and support my teammates in the team".
In addition, the multi-position striker participated in eight matches with the Brazilian national team, but he was excluded from Carlo Ancelotti's squad for the 2026 World Cup.
