Our Egyptian hero, Abdelrahman Talaat, secured a medal for Egypt in the fencing competitions at the 2026 Mediterranean Games, currently being held in Italy.
The 20th edition of the Mediterranean Games is currently taking place in the Italian city of Taranto and will continue until September 3, with the participation of 3,803 athletes from 26 countries.
Abdelrahman Talaat achieved a significant victory over the Italian Giuseppe Franzoni with a score of 15-7, securing his place in the semifinals and guaranteeing Egypt a new medal in the tournament.

Abdelrahman Talaat's qualification for the semifinals raised Egypt's tally to 9 guaranteed medals so far at the 2026 Mediterranean Games, amid the outstanding results achieved by the Egyptian delegation across various competitions.
Egypt ranks sixth on the list of countries with the most medals in the history of the Mediterranean Games, with a total of 620 diverse medals: 156 gold, 209 silver, and 255 bronze.
