Turkish club Fenerbahçe announced on Saturday evening that it had mutually terminated the contract of its Moroccan player Sofyan Amrabat.
Fenerbahçe’s account on X stated: “Sofyan Amrabat, who joined our squad during the 2024-2025 season, has mutually agreed with the club to terminate his contract.”
The Turkish club added: “We wish Sofyan Amrabat success and good fortune in the next phase of his career.”
According to the website Tribuna, citing transfer market expert Matteo Moretto, Ajax Amsterdam has reached a verbal agreement with Amrabat to sign him on a free transfer.
Amrabat has agreed to the terms of his contract with Ajax, a deal strongly supported by sporting director Jordi Cruyff, and the Dutch club is currently working to complete the transfer procedures.
Sofyan Amrabat joined Fenerbahçe in 2024 and spent part of last season on loan at Real Betis.
He has previously played for Fiorentina, Manchester United, Hellas Verona, Feyenoord, and Utrecht, while making 69 international appearances for the Moroccan national team.
