Steve McManaman, Real Madrid legend, discussed the club's new signing, comparing the player to Barcelona star Lamine Yamal.
Real Madrid strengthened their squad significantly this summer by acquiring several players, most notably Yan Diomande, who joined from Leipzig.
Real Madrid signed Diomande for approximately 140 million euros, making the Ivorian international the most expensive player in the club's history.
In statements made to 'GOAL', McManaman believes Diomande should accept comparisons with Lamine Yamal, clarifying that the latter is currently far superior.
McManaman said: "Lamine Yamal is much better than Diomande at the moment. I saw him playing for Leganés several months ago; the development in his level is incredible, and this is not easy for any player to achieve."

He added: "This is how football is these days; top players receive huge sums of money. We previously discussed style and substance, and Lamine has proven that to everyone. He was only 16 years old yet delivering outstanding performances, then achieved even more at 17 and 18, and at 19 he won the World Cup. It's truly exceptional."
He explained: "Comparisons between Diomande and Lamine Yamal will inevitably arise, but Lamine is more experienced despite their similar ages. This is what Diomande must strive for; he should aspire to reach Lamine's level."
He continued: "There is also immense pressure when playing for Real Madrid. Franco Mastantuono, for example, shone in Argentina with River Plate and arrived with a record-breaking fee, but he lacked sufficient experience and wasn't mentally mature enough to handle responsibility and improve the team's performance during last season's struggles. This is exactly what Yan Diomande will face this year."
He went on: "Real Madrid players will need to exert tremendous effort from the start of the season because if they suffer some poor results and the fans begin criticizing them, they will need strong character to manage the supporters' discontent. Therefore, it will be a test for all of them, especially if their competitors are in good form, which increases the difficulty of the challenge during the new season. Consequently, there will be exciting side events throughout the stadium and across La Liga."
He concluded: "I am happy because Barcelona's financial situation has improved with the completion of Camp Nou's construction, alongside their signing of distinguished players, which will contribute to raising the level of La Liga once again."
Diomande, along with the rest of the Real Madrid squad, is preparing for today's anticipated match against Espanyol, marking Los Blancos' first game of the season in La Liga.
