Media reports today spoke about the latest developments regarding the situation of Gianni Infantino, as president of the International Federation of Football ''FIFA'', and the possibility of his departure from his position in the coming period, after the many criticisms that the Swiss faced.
Infantino was subjected to a violent attack campaign over the past days, after his controversial proposal to sell part of FIFA's share to external investors, where these investors would oversee the World Cup tournaments.
The abundance of criticisms that Infantino faced led to him canceling this proposal at a later time.
The matter was not limited to mere criticisms, as many sources agreed that the European Football Association ''UEFA'' wants to withdraw confidence from Infantino, or is considering the Swiss not running for a new term in FIFA, as elections will be held next year.
However, the newspaper ''Mundo Deportivo'' confirmed that Infantino, despite the developments that occurred in the past weeks, is not worried about his current situation, and is confident in obtaining the support of most international federations.

The newspaper added that UEFA plans to oust Infantino from his position, and wants to push Aleksander Ceferin, the current president of the European Federation, or another man, for the presidency of FIFA.
It explained that the step of Ceferin or another official in the European Federation running for office serves Infantino's interest, as other federations do not want a European official to assume the presidency of FIFA in the coming period.
It added that Infantino is armed with the support of the African Football Confederation, which did not object to his recent proposal, unlike the other federations, while the African Confederation ''CAF'' includes 54 members, one less than the European Confederation (55 members), which gives Infantino great support and makes him think of putting Morocco at the head of CAF.
The newspaper continued, saying that Infantino has full confidence in obtaining the support of the majority of the continental federations, including CONCACAF, which includes 41 members, and supports the current FIFA president, despite the objection to his proposal.
Mundo Deportivo also mentioned that the Asian Confederation also supports Infantino, as well as the Oceania Confederation, while the South American Confederation opposes the Swiss's continuation.
The president of the South American Confederation, Alejandro Dominguez, was proposed as an alternative to Infantino in the coming period, and Dominguez seeks for the next World Cup editions to have 64 teams.
