Messi took the penalty kick to Shobier's left, but the latter succeeded in blocking it.
This is the second penalty kick that Shobier has blocked in the 2026 World Cup.

Shobier blocked Mehdi Taremi, the captain of the Iranian national team.
Mustafa Shobier has become the only goalkeeper in the history of the World Cup to block two penalty kicks in the same tournament, after the Polish goalkeepers Jan Tomaszewski and Wojciech Szczęsny, and the American goalkeeper Brad Friedel.
