Mbappé became the second French player to miss a penalty in the World Cup after Karim Benzema in 2014 against Switzerland.
For the first time, Mbappé missed a penalty or shootout with France since Euro 2020 against Switzerland, as he scored 15 penalties in his opponents' nets during the 6 years.
During his career, Mbappé took 80 penalties, scoring 65 and missing 15, and this is the first penalty he missed in the World Cup.
The winner of that match will meet the winner of the Spain and Belgium match in the semi-finals.
