The Egyptian national team qualified for the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup after defeating Australia on penalties.
Mohanad Lasheen said via On Sport: "There are players we should not forget, whether Mohamed Hamdy, Islam Issa, or Mostafa Fathi, especially for their impact with the Egyptian national team before, whether in the qualifiers or the World Cup."
The Egyptian national team midfielder missed the match against Australia due to suspension for accumulating yellow cards in the group stage, and he is ready to face Argentina in the round of 16.

The trio is absent due to injuries from Egypt's fourth historical participation in the World Cup.
Mohamed Hamdy suffered a cruciate ligament tear during the match against Benin in the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations last January.
Islam Issa also suffered a cruciate ligament tear in Egypt's friendly match against Spain held last March.
Finally, Mostafa Fathi is absent from the Egypt national team list after suffering a clavicle dislocation during Pyramids' friendly match against Helwan.
