The Senegal national team bid farewell to the World Cup competitions from the round of 32 after losing to Belgium by three goals to two despite leading by two goals without reply.
Mendy said via his official account: "This elimination is a failure. We had the quality to advance further, but we did not do so."
He added, "I gave everything I had to recover from the injury and return in time to help the team until the end, but that was not enough."
He continued, "Now we must have the courage to face reality."
Senegal's goalkeeper explained, "Such tournaments require a comprehensive review; competing at this level requires a deep reassessment, not superficially, but through honest and precise work on everything that was done, what helped us advance, and what prevented us from achieving our goal."
He continued, "Uncomfortable facts are often the most useful for development."
Mendy stressed, "If we want to reach the highest levels, we must ask the right questions, make the right decisions, and raise the level of our aspirations."
He concluded his statements, "Senegal deserves a national team and a federation capable of turning failures into lessons, and lessons into victories, and we must live up to that."
