Ibrahim Hassan, manager of the Egyptian national team, expressed his happiness at the return of the young generations to support the team, after participating in the 2026 World Cup.
The Egyptian national team delegation arrived this Friday morning at Alamein Airport, after the team's journey in the World Cup ended.
Ibrahim Hassan said in statements to On Sport channel: "We didn't fall short, don't be upset with us, our ambition was high, and the public had confidence in us."
He continued, "We made a great effort, but in the end, the matter was beyond our control."
The Egyptian national team was close to qualifying for the quarter-finals, after leading by two goals against Argentina until the 79th minute.
But the Argentine national team succeeded in turning the result around and winning 3-2, amid controversial refereeing decisions.
The team manager continued, "We are happy about the return of the young generation to support the Egyptian national team; sports and football make the young child understand the meaning of his country Egypt, and we hope to be the reason for the young generation's love for Egypt."
He spoke about the atmosphere of the tournament: "Our fans were the best in the World Cup tournament in all states; it was an amazing sight."
He recounted, "We were following the reactions from America, and therefore we wanted to make them happy, and we felt the joy of the fans in the match against Argentina, but we were eliminated from the World Cup by an outside force."
Regarding the team's ambition in the World Cup, Ibrahim Hassan replied, "We were telling the players to forget about returning now; we had confidence in every match."
He concluded, "God was carrying all this appreciation for us, and thank God our intentions were good and we love Egypt very much."
The Egyptian national team achieved its first-ever win in the World Cup in its fourth participation against New Zealand with a score of 3-1.
The Egyptian national team also advanced past the group stage for the first time in history, as well as qualifying for the round of 16 in a historic achievement.
The Egyptian national team scored 8 goals in 5 matches, in the largest scoring streak in the history of the Pharaohs' World Cup participations.
