Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić, who officiated the 2026 World Cup final between the Spanish and Argentine national teams, spoke about the controversial incidents in the match.
The Spanish national team managed to win 1-0 against Argentina with a goal scored by Barcelona star Ferran Torres, after resorting to extra time to win the 2026 World Cup final for the second time in its history.
Under the leadership of coach Luis de la Fuente, the Spanish national team was able to assert complete control and dominance over the match and prevented Argentina from taking any shot on goal in the first 105 minutes.

The Slovenian referee expressed his happiness at officiating the World Cup final, saying in statements to the newspaper "Marca": "At first I felt shocked, then I felt proud afterwards for our refereeing team that will represent Slovenia in the biggest stages of football".
He continued: "I knew it was a big responsibility, we had to be worthy of this trust and conclude the tournament successfully."
The referee was asked about his conversation with Messi during the match: "I will leave this conversation on the pitch, but I can say that he behaved in a sporting manner."
He explained: "A refereeing career is reduced to one match, the responsibility is huge on us even though I believe our strategy was correct."
He concluded: "Errors can be corrected by reviewing video technology, and with the speed of modern football, it is impossible to see everything, I cannot imagine refereeing without video technology."
