Julian Nagelsmann, the coach of the German national team, held a 3-hour meeting at the headquarters of the German Football Association to discuss his future, according to Bild newspaper.
The Paraguay national team eliminated its German counterpart from the Round of 32 after resorting to penalty kicks following the end of regular and extra time with a draw of one goal each.
The report explained that the meeting focused on conducting a quick assessment of the World Cup failure, where Nagelsmann was first asked to explain his perspective on Germany's exit.
This was before he answered questions related to technical errors on the field and the atmosphere surrounding the team's camp in the United States.
At the end of the meeting, German Football Association officials suggested to Nagelsmann that he consider resigning himself.
Julian was given time to consider his options, while the officials wish to provide him with an exit that allows him to leave with his head held high.
The final decision is expected to be made no later than the beginning of next week, according to Bild.
Nagelsmann refuses to resign from his position after exiting the World Cup from the Round of 32.
Nagelsmann said in statements to journalists after the exit: "I will not resign. If the German Football Association wants me to stay until 2028, I will stay."
He added, "But if they don't want that, I will leave and abandon the project."
The German national team failed to pass the Round of 32 in the World Cup for the third consecutive time.
This was after being eliminated in 2018 and 2022 from the group stage (formerly the Round of 32), and then in 2026 from the Round of 32, which is the first knockout stage after the groups.
Thus, the Paraguay national team will play in the Round of 16 against the winner of the match between France and Sweden.
